It is a repackaged version of his Lakewood sermons and teaches seven principles to live by based on the Bible. Osteen was interviewed by Byron Pitts of CBS for 60 Minutes on October 14, 2007.

Paul says "Woe to me if I don't preach the Gospel" 1:Cor.9:16 and "We preach not ourselves but Christ..." 2 Cor. 4:5 Mr. Olsteen doesn't preach the Gospel, he preaches a truncated, skewed, sugar-coated, altered, self-help, feel-good, man-centered "gospel" - that is no gospel at all.

I do think he makes an excellent Tony Robins (perhaps that's what he should just stick to - I would buy his motivational material). Nonetheless, the point is he's doing great harm to his "congregants" by deceiving them into thinking that his message will save them. Behind his smile and "tears" of "humility" - he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.
For the true Gospel that saves us from God's judgment, read the Bible, not someone who doesn't know it.

He should stop lacing his self-help message with scripture, pretending to preach the gospel. I think Joel Osteen is great for all types of people that really dont understand the bible. He motivates me and brings a postive message to all that listen.

It's so sad because, you, Protestants are divided. Why not pray for one another? Why not love one another? Why ague all the time? Christians are always arguing. Muslims, Buddhist, Hindus, etc., don't. What a shame! How can we bring people like Muslims, Buddhist, Hindus, Atheist, etc., to the Lord Jesus if they see strife in Christianity?

Gandhi, like all who've not known the truth of Christ, thought religion was merely about "how to live your best life now", not "Who will save me from this body of sin?" While we're to walk in righteousness and love, the gospel of Christ is that He died and rose again BECAUSE we are, and will be, sinners until we die.

I believe we argue because wolves are always threatening the fold. Unbelievers fight all the time, terran (and so do Catholics, btw). Christians will always see strife so long as false gospels are circulated. Read Paul, Jude, and John. Paul had to rebuke Peter to his face, but he loved him. It is the highest honor and love toward mankind to defend the gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Saviour, and God.

Joel is such an idiot and I have NO respect for him. He shouldn't be a Pastor because he is just teaching the nice, soft, warm, and sweet parts of the Bible. You can't just pick which parts you want to teach about. You have to teach the entire word of God good and bad. And most of the times he doesn't even teach from the Bible. He just jabbers on about how pure everyone is and won't admit we're ALL sinners in the eyes of the Lord. He's damning so many to hell, and doesn't even know it.

yeah, muslims don't argue w/ eachother, they just kill each other, then the Jews and Christians. You're right we're not to argue, but Joel should not be called a pastor of a Christian church. I've read his book before I was saved and I knew there was something fishy when he talked about getting your best parking space now. Christians in Asia are dying right now for their faith. Is it b/c they lack faith? Can they live their best life now in a big house w/superfluous stuff?

The way you express yourself, I can tell that you're a Baptist. Who do you think created man? I believe God is not an exclusive God. He didn't create one to be better off or to be cursed than the other. He has created us in His image and likeness. That tells me that ALL of us are special and redeemed, to those who believe. The ELECTS are the believers. Do you think you're one of the ELECTS? What if you're not one of the ELECTS? How sure are you?

if u read the "entire passage" its means not judge hypocritically - IOW not judge someone of a sin u urself are currently doing (matt 7:1-5).
Jesus said judge righteously (john 7:24) along w/ many more scriptures to keep us on the narrow way.
So please stop "picking & choosing" bible verses out of context. If we are not to judge at all how we can obey 2 Timothy 3:16-17?

I thank God for Joel without him I would have never read the Bible. He's right what always turned me off ways the Christians telling me I'm going to hell. He preaches positive things and made me feel positive now my life has changed and I gave myself to God. Thank you Joel for giving me a change.
