The Mothers-In-Law w/ Desi Arnaz Pt. 1

Uploaded by: tvbuddy
Video Description:
This hilarious show was written and produced by the I Love Lucy writers, and one of the most overlooked from the 1960's. This is a part of an episode called A Night to Forget with Eve Arden, Kaye Ballard, Herb Rudley, and Roger C. Carmel and guest starring Desi Arnaz. Eve and Kaye get locked in a Dept. Store. It's hilarious!!

Thank you for this clip. I have racked my brain for years wondering if the living room set in The Mother-in-Laws was a redressing of "I Love Lucy" living room in the country. You've set my mind at rest. Kind of looks like half of "The Lucy Show" instead. I jhavn't seen this show since syndication in the 1970's. Thanks again for the clip.

I remember laughing hilariously as a 12 year-old when I first saw this (I'm thinking 1968). It's still funny to me - Kaye Ballard was a special favourite.

Kaye Ballard is a comic genius. Still alive and kicking in NYC! 82 years old. Eve Arden was an under-rated actress.

I Loved Eve Arden! Up there with Lucy as one of the funniest TV sit-com actresses.Maybe not as physical, but nobody could deliver a punchline or set someone up(like Kaye B.) for one like her.Very under-rated! This was a great show that deserved many more seasons!

Great old clip back in the days before they started using the "Hollywood prefix" -- "555" -- which is -- at least at the moment -- a non-working prefix -- so viewers didn't call real phone numbers made famous by movies and TV. But with YouTube, everybody is famous so I guess it doesn't really matter. Also, if they activate the 555 prefix someday, old movies and TV shows may make your tele number famous.

Years ago, when I worked at K Mart as a teen, they would close on 6 on Sundays. That is old school. I guess 1986 is that long ago. Sam's Club used to knock off early too back in the day. I did not work there, I just remember them closing early on the weekend.

A terrific show. Too bad it didn't do well enough, ratings-wise. It has 1960's written all over it. It's obvious that it was a Desilu production, too.

I loved this show as a kid, and I'm grateful to you for posting. But at the same time I thing we should admit that compared to modern sitcoms like Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Simpsons, or The Office this sucks. TV has come a long way.

Can you just picture Lucy and Ethyl doing this same scene.
