why the hell did they use the hand cranked gattling gun? they should've used the steam powered gatling gun with bullet belts. that hand cranked gatling gun that you had to reload in cartridges suked against the steam power gatling with bullet belts.

The thing about this is 15 riflemen could aim at 15 targets and take them all down at the same time. The gatling gun could destroy one target, but it is difficult to aim at another, moving target because of its size. So you could shoot one guy with a gatling gun 100 times, or you could shoot 100 guys with one shot with a squad of riflemen.

If my military history doesn't fail me, that's not an accurate Gatling Gun for the Civil War, by the way, but I guess no one claimed it was.
The Pre-1866 model did not have a magazine, but it had an open hopper-like thing, I believe. And the barrels are too short for that early model

yes, but I don't think that was around during the civil war. Almost all of the weapons of the civil war, such as smoothbore muskets, cannons, and mortar, were still using ramrods and breech-loading. However, the hand-cranked gatling gun had just been invented and it was the best they had. Just pointing out some history.
