Strange thing,I was only thinking of Richard Widmark last week and now he's dead along with Charlton Heston, two great old time movie stars. Heston will be remembered for Ben Hur and personally I'll always remember Richard Widmark as Madigan. Not many of teh old gang left now! Kirk Douglas, Eli Wallach, Karl Malden. When one of these great stars passes away, to us movie fans it's like losing an old friend, strange! Rest In Peace, Richard Widmark and Charlton Heston, thanks for the memories.

Richard Widmark was a terrific actor and a great guy. The woman he introduced at the end of the clip, Bella Darvi, was a notorious Hollywood nymphomaniac who seduced every actor she met, and had Darryl Zanuck leaving his wife for her. She committed suicide by gas in 1971 in Monte Carlo.

I am so glad to see so many positive comments about Richard Widmark. It's good to know he was appreciated and still is appreciated. Check out the novel "I Want to Marry Godzilla and Have His Children" -- it includes Widmark as a behind-the-scenes character in a woman's life.

Widmark! What a great man.
Am sure actor Alain Delon took a lot
from him. See Alain in Cavet's show.
Bless you Mr. Widmark wherever you are now.

I think they are referring to the maniac like giggle he had in the 1948 movie 'Kiss of Death'. He played a psychopathic gangster who pushed an old lady down the stairs.

RW passed away ... ( 5 months ago by pkneeno)
RW passed away recently. He was famous for not appearing on TV to promote movies. He made a comment that actors sell their privacy for a song and dance and perhaps a movie. Of course, Ms. Kilgallen knew who he was all along and this is a harmless, fun publicity event. He was a great actor. Night and the City... see that if nothing else. Oh and the wheelchair scene. Nice post.

Jethrofilm: In answer to your question, Widmark's "characteristic" was his psychotic laugh as the sadistic thug in "Kiss of Death." (He laughs as he pushes the old woman (in a wheelchair) down the stairs!!)

Jethrofilm: P.S. - There's a video clip of this scene from "Kiss of Death".

Brilliant actor! Widmark's trademark evil laugh as Tommy Udo was very much like his real laugh - just more extreme. My mother told me when she was in highschool they all loved to re-enact the stairway scene from Kiss of Death... on the stairs at school. Except nobody died.
TRIVIA: ... ( 4 months ago by Gnillob802)
TRIVIA: Impressionist Frank Gorshin used to do heavy dramatic actors such as Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster and Richard Widmark. His Widmark was the laugh and sadistic smile in KISS OF DEATH. He would reprise this laugh and smile and impression when he became The Riddler on Batman.

Here's a not very well known one for you guys: "The Bedford Incident" (a British Production made in 1964) with Poitier. Excellent Cold War suspense film where Widmark plays a tough, and obsessed, captain of a U.S. destroyer. A truly great performance, and an excellent suspense thriller. Check it out. (Watch that ending!)

This is sooooo awesome!!!! I love Rishard sooo f...ing much and really enjoyed this video! I guess his voice was so distinctive that disguising it was a given, and I laughed so hard! I also love Victor Borge, and was surprised to see him here; but why didn't he want to see him? That's odd.... I would, DROOOOOL!!!!!
