One of the benefits of using minerals is that they don't "expire." Does pressing them change that since a binder is added? If so, how long would they be safe to use after pressing? Also, would there be an expiration date if using the alcohol method? Thanks!

sorry for the late response, been trying to catch up - any way, compact Blot Powders are Matte, so this is the best method to repress those.

Conema Secrets have stainless steel spatula. You can probably also google it to find outher resources. i got mine from discovery channel store at a mall.

the heat causes the particles to expand and holds to each other with the help of the binder. Its an option really, but you get better results.

hey mandy - for the most part, the binder just acts temporarily, just to help the particles adhere to each other, then it dries. Alcohol dries faster. So, minerals still maintains its no-expiry characteristics even when pressed.

Thanks, Koren! I also wanted to let people know that I've used an ice pick to do the mixing, and it works quite well (and the large handle makes it easy on the hands). I found that easier than using a bobby pin.

hey thanx, so much for responding, i actually forgot i asked, but yeah, i actually did find the spats on cinema secrets, really good site, just ordered a yaby palette from there, cannot wait to receive it, i'm redoing my kit, so looking into palettes, takes up less space and less time, i use all mac products, but want to see what else out there is as good or even better...i enjoy watching you, your like a celeb in youtubelololol

its optional - you san simply just let it dry for a day or two, if you dont have an oven.

thx for the details:) HK mac pro do not have the mixing medium, I searched high and low , i failed 3 batched :(
1st: alcohol alone, 2nd : alcohol + glycerine
3rd: glycerine+water
none works!!!
it is hard to press mineral foundation i used BE, i like the concept but hate powder fly everywhere

hey Koren.. will this work with NYX and shespace pigments? iv tried pressing them with alcohol but after they dried as soon as i touched them they went back to being dusty pigments :(

its the best way to really pack-press minerals as they are super fine powders. So doing it in 2 sets is the way to assure that its well pressed.

because, not all mineralized powders are pressed! there are ppl out there that like the coverage of loose mineralized powders as opposed to regular foundation.. this tutorial are for those who hate the messiness that comes along w/ loose mineralized powder..

I tried this with my Bare Minerals except I pressed it in an empty blush pan so my Kabuki brush would fit in it. Then I converted a Mac quad pallette and out it in. It worked perfectly!
