Flatwound strings. You will never get the John Paul Jones "first four Zep" tone with your Jazz basses and you can't get the Jamerson Motown tone with your P with roundwounds. Flats are what you need. They have pure authentic vintage fat tone. They cause virtually zero fret-fingerboard wear. Best of all,you NEVER have to change them out. Flats actually improve in sound the more you play.
