I have a question: ... ( 1 year ago by jboldery)
I have a question: If you wonder why people don't listen to peaceful teaching, I must assume that you strive to do so yourself and I commend you. However, I wonder this: What environment did your daughter grow up in that lead her to promote violence? I'm not judging you or her (love her!). You see, I haven't a clue where my children will end up. But it concerns me a little when I feel I have a fair grasp on life and this thing, this child, my life, I ultimately have little control of.

I like R. T. I haven't met him in the elevator lately maybe he has been away on one of his many far east trips? Many question, so little time, searching for the wisdom, the obvious. Tired of trying. The general theory of industrious uselessness. Enough already Richard! Thanks again, again.

Dr Bob is a favorite of my dharma teachers. I commend Uma for her work. I had a visit with her family for Tibet related events in NYC just before KillBill came out. Her mother was concerned about the amount of violence. As a wise woman and mother she knew Uma was a grown woman and she must make her own choices. I can see how Uma got to her success and that of her brother Ganden who was shockingly focused and engaging fellow. Bless that nice family.

Yet, people still pick on him when the spread of his peaceful message is so limited, while meaningless media are spread so contagiously.

some things come from religion. for example some recent wars, the president, the status of education in USA, and partially/perhaps some intolerance issues.
Violence stems from ... ( 1 year ago by thaightness)
Violence stems from education & selfishness. Its a dynamic relationship betwn the 2 that creates violence in the world. Many 3rd world countries go to violence first bc they don't know better ways to resolve their problems. In wealthier countries we have education but this education leads to postions of power/influence to select groups who let their selfish needs get the best of them in mind and therefore violence becomes a manifestation of the selfishness that starts from the top down.

For all those out there who wish to contribute to the unity of mankind and the destruction of war, tyranny, and human suffering, YOU can help our inevitable destiny by exercising compassion in every moment of your waking life.R.Thurman's book "Infinte Life" will teach you how to use your mind as the ultimate tool to see the bliss within you which is waiting to burst from your false concept of self, and our happiness is dependant on the happiness of all.

RT is so wise in so many ways. Why the simplistic, black and white answers to such complex matters? Rich people give their money to the poor? Yeah, that would help... for about 10 seconds. Then what? His politics cloud his vision.
He's obiously ... ( 9 months ago by stoodius00)
He's obiously intelligent, and genuine, well centered and charismatic; he must understand that what he proposes is of the same timbre of utopian hope that has never been fulfilled in this world. While I understand the hoplessness of negativity, it is very hard to accept that evil, violence etc. can be once and finally vanquished. Doesn't enlightenment include even that 'ignoramus,' Bush? That being said the guy is emminently likable, I sure would like to believe the way he seems too.

How about we all send this one as a Holiday greeting?
The answer is ... ( 7 months ago by Saattya)
The answer is simple look directly at your self very honestly. We change the world only by changing our self.
But I started by seeing the world and wanting to change that. What we see in the world are reflections of our self.
I think the idea is ... ( 7 months ago by Saattya)
I think the idea is that if we can't imagine it we won't try to achieve it. On a large or global scale it takes much more time. But I believe this kind of thing has happened here and there in small networks of people throughout time. Whatever is done is done through individuals.
Bush is lovable. ... ( 7 months ago by Saattya)
Bush is lovable. Consider this possible view. He is doing what we really want him to do at a certain level. We want cheap oil. Who doesn't complain about gas prices. Who doesn't want more faster cheaper better. In a sense he's a puppet. We the people do rule, we just don't realize it or how it happens.
Array ( 7 months ago by Saattya)
(part 1)
It's not about rich giving to the poor. That would actually make things worse. Ultimately money is useless paper and metal. What is real wealth. It is skills, intelligence, natural resources, food, shelter, clothes and qualities like love and patience. Money is little more than a motivating factor.
Array ( 7 months ago by Saattya)
(part 2)
Pointing to rich people is pointing to hoarding and greed in all of us. The wealthy are who we want to be. We want the possibility of the American dream (rich & powerful) to be available to us so anyone can achieve it. But how many of us can realistically have it and at what cost?
Array ( 7 months ago by Saattya)
(part 3)
Money should be used wisely to motivate people to achieve long term sustainable livelihood equally for all and by all. This is a realistic aim we should all think about otherwise it will never happen. Even if it doesn't happen in our lifetime if we work toward that it will eventually happen. But most of us are just out for what we can get for our self in this lifetime.

Nechung is an evil ... ( 5 months ago by dharmalover2008)
Nechung is an evil spirit bound by oath. Since he is a spirit,we cannot take refuge in him. HH Dalai Lama mentions clearly that we cannot even place a picture of him on our shrines as it would degenerate our refuge. You can read more of Nechung from John Avedon's book, 'Exile from the Land of Snows' on the chapter: Wheel of Protection.
Since he is a bound spirit, he many chances to give the wrong prophecies as some of the Nechung oracles in the past were removed from their post for that reason.
Thurman is right ... ( 2 months ago by mujaku)
Thurman is right about Dubya he is an ignoramus. He stole the election in 2000 and 2004. The U.S. is now a garrison state. And yes the problem is with men, they are wimps and bullies. They praise violence and hate wisdom.
