Thanks to three turbochargers, 724 horsepower and five limited-slip differentials, comparing the 2008 Mazdaspeed 3, 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX and 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart should be more entertaining than a cage match between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and New Kids on the Block. Imagine the fun! Donny and Danny hangin' tough from the walls of the cage while Joey, Jordan and Jonathan get tossed into the crowd.
The way we see it, our Rampage vs. New Kids bout is no different from pitting the Mazdaspeed 3 — the current champ of the sport compact world — against the Lancer Ralliart and Subaru WRX. On the track, an epic ass-kicking is bound to ensue.
But comparison tests aren't always won on the track. Since these cars all share a focus on real-world driving for enthusiasts, we weighted performance as 25 percent of this test's scoring total, leaving the remaining points to price (20 percent), feature content (20 percent), fuel economy (15 percent), our subjective evaluation (15 percent) and personal and recommended picks (5 percent).
So performance is important, but in the end, the most well-rounded car wins.

Not only with bigger turbocharger, better exhaust, etc...
The tires are much wider, and the suspension much sportive.
It's gonna be quicker and more agile. 0-60 annouced at 5.4 (some say lower...). It's gonna kick mazda's ass. I have Mazda and I'm just jaleous of future Subaru's owner.

The Evo X is nasty, but it's almost FOURTY THOUSAND DOLLARS! Who the hell is going to pay that for an Evo? The STi is pretty cool, but its also expensive and I wouldn't take a WRX if you gave it to me for free. The MS3 lacks the attitude of the other two, but it offers 90% of the performance for 10 grand less. Mazda is doing really well. The MX5 is still probably the greatest roadster ever, the rotary bloodline still runs strong, and the MS3 has yet to be beaten by anything in its price range.

if the mazda was a AWD car like the Mazda speed 6 then it would be the best. Otherwise the ralliart is the best.
Think: the mazda is just a mazda 3 with on drugs. The Ralliart on the other hand is a tamed Evo.

when you say regular mazda 3 on drugs, you do realize that besides the body having minor work done to it, everything else on the cars has almost been completely redone compared to the regular 3. That is why it's called a sleeper, the ralliart is also too expensive for what it is. It needs to be around $22k-$23k for the ralliart.
The mazdaspeed3 sounds way better.

the mazdaspeed 3 looks exactly the same on the interior. I have a mazda 3 and its almost the same, except for the extra gear ratio and the seats. The ralliart is a much better effort on improving the whole car all around rather than just the power and seats. If I was 20 feet away from the mazdaspeed 3, I wouldn't know if it was even what it is. No joke

do you understand what a sleeper is? That means no retarded spoiler, nothing done to the body that would attract cops, and just a good quiet looking car, which the Mazdaspeed3 is much better at than the r.art. Your also forgetting that the suspension is track tuned on the ms3, the chasis has been reinforced everywhere by at least 70% and they put an engine in the car that has been on the wards top 10 engines two years in a row. The DISI 2.3L Turbo.

engine is good, no doubt. Suspension is good too but if it was a sleeper than why does the interior look almost exactly the same? cops won't see that. Thats what i'm talkin about. Its mazda's way of cost-cutting. Lets just put a lot of power and make the car be able to handle it and sell it for only a little more than it was to upgrade it. I mean they could have at least changed the steering wheel.

the steering wheel of the speed3 is taking directly from the RX-8, not a mazda 3. Coming from a old evo 9 owner, i can make arguements on both ends. The evo's interior is exactly the same as the ES interior but with recaro's. im talking about the old lancer and evo, not the 10. so mazda is doing what mitsubishi did. put a 4g63 engine in a lancer ES, tuned suspension and ACD, AYC, and u got a Evo. plus this ralliart is intended to be a upgraded GTS, rather than downgraded Evo 10.
