They are of course making fun of the "professional detachment" exhibited by newsanchors and reporters that work in news media. Despite the grave loss of life and utter destruction associated with these disasters, reporters seem more concerned with describing what the various graphics and indicators mean that are used by media outlets to embellish their stories. I for one find this satire to be hilarious, and I do so because I understand that they aren't making fun of the disasters themselves.

I just love the word "misshapen" here. There's something incredibly funny about it. They don't know what the green area is anyway, so how can they claim it's misshapen? And yet somehow the green areas aren't smooth and neat, so to Michael Bannon there is something disturbing about their shape. So they are misshapen. I love this episode.
