Uploaded by: freevidviewer
Video Description:
PLEASE VOTE FOR ME is an award-winning documentary about an interesting social experiment with democracy in China.
In an elementary school in the city of Wuhan in central China, three eight-year-old students campaign for the coveted position of class monitor. This is the first election for a class leader to be held in China. The three candidates hold debates, campaign tirelessly and show their intellectual and artistic skills, until one is voted the winner. Their parents, devoted to their only child, take part and start to influence the results.

很有趣,很写实.小学时的班长最变态了,权力又大,不过那时可没民主这么个搞法.

This is just silly. Voting is about voting. Democracy is also about the rule of law / independent judges/free press/ and so on
Voting is often less important than the other elements. HK has very limited voting but has the other elements and is very successful.
Only the CPC and GW Bush push the line that democracy is just about voting.

Many people don't realize there are village and town level elections in China. I'm fairly certain at least over 90% if not all of the villages and towns have leaders democratically elected.
Note: the government usually don't pick the candidates, but voting fraud happen from time to time from what I heard. Yes, this is what happens when there's a democracy without proper voter education and regulations, most importantly, without a real voting culture. people just buy votes.

This documentary itself actually made cases for both pro-democracy and anti-democracy arguments. On one hand, it's scary to have uneducated voters and unregulated voting process in a democracy; on another hand, without real democracy, the imitation can only be so crude and cruel.

You are right, villages and communities in towns can voe for leaders, and happen every year, although I have never known anybody to talk about it, and when I asked my Chinese friends about it they said it is "rubbish." They have no power, and candidates seem to have to follow he party line, so although they are independently chosen, they are still centrally controlled

This video reveals so many problems with the "new age" social experiment. The women think different from the men. And the chubby boy has no dignity for his own body, and not surprisingly wants to be the "class monitor" just so he can "order people around." The chubby boy gets in an argument with his mother, because she wants him to heavily use hand gestures, a predominantly feminine form of communication.

The chubby boy wants to take off all his clothes as soon as he gets home, just like an animal. And he wants to win the election, just because he likes to "order people around." Its very important for people to get to know the personal lives of all electoral candidates. And vote for the most righteous candidate, even if they belong among the "third class parties", rather than voting for the most flattering one.

Democracy has never worked, and will never work, because it defies logic and nature. How can the ignorant masses make wise decisions with their votes? Time after time the ignorant masses are fooled by politicians dressed in business suits. The best form of government is a government of the philosophers, and most importantly those philosophers that practice what they preach.

Tyranny naturally arises out of democracy.
Plato, "The Republic"
There will be no end to the troubles of states, or of humanity itself, till philosophers become kings in this world, or till those we now call kings and rulers really and truly become philosophers, and political power and philosophy thus come into the same hands.
Plato, "The Republic"
Plato, was a man who lived in a society that had experienced the realities of democracy.

"This is the first election for a class leader to be held in China."
This is a bullshit LIE! I remember I had election for a class leader 15 years ago when I was in Wuhan, China. I release why BBC likes twisting the truth...it is because they are people with a very limited outlook. Their small world is only in England, arrogance is all they have.

This is a very interesting and an important document. Not only does it show the form of democracy but also through the hands of three children. One rules with dictatorship, one with little fear, control, and idea of equality, and one showing little passiveness in leadership. Though these children may have no idea what power is, they are practicing it without much realization. You can find their innocence throughout the whole process while also desiring that seat to the throne of leadership.

It's all quite strange really. They really have no idea what real power is, what they are saying, or what true quality of leadership is and yet they practice it in all sort of ways.

It is ignorant to say "this is the first election in class...". When I was in grade one primary school, we could name our own nominees and vote. I named myself as class monitor ! (I wrote my name on the blackboard) And I was elected class monitor! These English guys have no knowledge about China. (Whatever, the western society is ignorant.)
