Covers aren't meant to be better, they're just meant to be a recreation of the original song, in the style of the artist that is covering. Who gives a shit if it's better or worse, it's still great.
You can't say "No one will ever be as good as Dire Straits, Pink Floyd" Or anything like that.Sooner or later a cover WILL be better than the original.
Sorry to burst your bubbles, but your immortal artists who you adore aren't exactly perfection.

Thanks, Killers, for reintroducing this beautiful, timeless song to another generation and for doing it justice. I like the twang of Dire Strait's original and the frailty of this version.
