Bruce Fein is a highly principled conservative. For him to so strongly criticize Bush and his over-reaching authority grabs says more than a handful of liberal experts on the matter (who people would accuse of having suspect motives). Bush has benefitted from 6 years of a submissive GOP Congress (which abdicated their oversight duties) and from 1 year of Dems being utterly spineless (caring more for retaining power than exercising it).

The dems have 2 very essential problems: 1) where the republican party does, generally, represent their constituants, the democratic is drastically right of their base 2) They're scared stiff of having their patriotism and support for the troops questioned, and, in that spirit, they basically refuse to enact any legislation with teeth.

Do they still teach civics in public school? The few teachers I know do not have civics courses in their school; with the level of civics understand most people under 30 have I assumed teaching civics became passe after the 70's.
An unenducated public is an easily manipulated public.

If you haven't learned d1mf1n yet, Olbermann isn't a news show in the sense that news is presented. It is a show that gives an analysis of the news. If you want to know what is going on then check headlines off the internet. If you want to hear ones analysis then that is what this show is.

No, they don't. The time frame for dropping civics probably varied from location to location, but it seems that anyone under the age of...40? shows an appaling lack of knowledge about our political system, if the comments I see on youtube are any way to judge.
