Victoria is probably at the prom as a lead in to the next movie. Like keeping an eye on them or something. I'm pretty sure she isn't there as an extra.

yeah i think they just changed it a little,, (which is ok to an extent) w/ victoria. they want you to be like 'oh prom, no trouble,' but then you see victoria in the corner watching them w/o them knowing.....makes it a little more suspenseful, and plus that shows she is looking for them in the sequel

But that still doesn't make sense, because then he would have known that Victoria was after Bella. He didn't know for sure that Victoria was coming after her until after he came back in New Moon. He only said he tried to track her in order to tie up any loose ends.... I guess I could see how that could be a loop hole in the movie. But even still, Victoria at the prom would mean a fight then and there. I could try to let it slide, as long as they make it work.

But he doesnt know victoria's after her. in the book, the werewolfs save her, because he left and when he comes back he finds out that victoria is after bella. so i think it's just to cause drama. because Victoria knows they can;t do anything infront of there whole school. So maybe its just to show them she's after bella.

Right, that's my point. In the book he doesn't know she's after her until after he comes back in New Moon. So if he sees her again at the prom, he'll know she's after Bella, and he'll want to go after her. And like he said in the book, if he knew Bella was in danger like that, he wouldn't have left her alone. So unless they plan on keeping Edward around in New Moon; Victoria at the prom makes no sense.
