For someone that studied English and reads as much work as possible, it's difficult NOT to be influenced by other authors. There is a remarkable difference between taking someone's idea for your own and simply utilizing aspects that have naturally worked their way into your own style.

too bad then that lovecraft's syntax, and grammar never worked their way into the mess that is stephen king's writing.
and a little acknowledgement of his anxiety of influence somewhere in the story- say naming the family 'the waites' or 'the mason's' might have been nice.....

This reminds me of the story of an album by King Diamond, called "Them", a story about a f*up gramma that teached his grandson about the House of Amon, and ends up killing his mother and sister. When the kid snaps oput of her spell, kills her, and lives forever haunted the voices of amon and his gramma

Yeah, I read the skeleton crew a few years ago.
Before that I just thought it was a book about tarot or something. Then I saw it was written by Stephen King. When I read it, I just loved it.
