Sea lions have teeth brushed

Wild sea lions may not care much about their fishy breath, but the French National Sea Experience Centre does - their captive sea lions have now been introduced to the joys of clean teeth and fresh breath. Keepers clean the captive sea lions' teeth daily with a traditional tooth brush and toothpaste, but it's taken some getting used to. "Sea lioins are used to the smell of fish and so some new smells such as toothpaste are not that likeable for sea lions. Each time we present them with a new smell, we have to teach them to get used to it," says Head sea lion keeper Jean-Luc Bourgain.
