The egg is not " ... ( 1 week ago by Nexis)
The egg is not "sucked" into the bottle. In reality it is "pushed". What has happened is that there has been a pressure differential between the inside and the outside of the bottle, resulting in the air molecules outside the bottle hitting the egg with more force per area than the air molecules on the inside, resulting in the egg being literally "pushed" into the bottle.

dont do this with a really tiny bottle... the egg goes splody, but still gets pushed into the bottle.
True. The same ... ( 1 week ago by samurphy)
True. The same thing happens when drinking through a straw. The low pressure you apply to the end of the straw allows the atmospheric pressure pushing down on the surface of the liquid in the container to cause the drink to rush up the straw.
The left side of a ... ( 1 week ago by samurphy)
The left side of a reaction would have the same amount of mass as the right side, with a tiny differential (Mass Change = Energy Released / C^2), so the change in density would have nothing to do with this. The vaccuum is created simply because the fire heats the air in the bottle, causing it to expand, then cools very quickly when the matches are extinguished, causing the air to contract again, and with the egg in the way, creates a vacuum enough to pull the egg in.
Energy is made all ... ( 1 week ago by samurphy)
Energy is made all the time. That's how power plants work. Matter can be changed to energy and vice versa, but the amount of energy that would be released from even a milk bottle full of oxygen (Energy Released = Mass of O2 * 299,792,458^2) would make this experiment MUCH more dramatic (read: you wouldn't want to do it in your house if this were the case).
The amount of energy produced in the form of heat and light is a TINY fraction of what would be produced in the case of full conversion.
Classic wrong. ... ( 1 week ago by samurphy)
Classic wrong. When you create a low pressure on one end of a tube (like a straw) you're not "pulling" the object up the straw, but rather the high pressure on the far end is pushing the object up the straw.
Its a minor point, but original poster is correct.

What happens is, ... ( 3 days ago by Zhyrca)
What happens is, theres lesser atmosphere pressure inside the bottle, and the nearest source of molecules is the egg.
If however, place the egg somewhere in space, it swells up, the action is more the egg than any pressure around it (which of course the air outside the bottle just helps pushing it).
