Man that billing in the beginning caught my eye, Allman bros playing the Fillmore a few days before the Band of Gypysys. That place had some kind of magic to it.

sepiatrax I agree with you 100%. There are several versions of message of love and machine gun with Mitch playing on them and they don't have that funky in the pocket feel as BOG. Half of the JH experince hits has Jimi playing bass on them because Noel Redding(a guitar player) could not get the right groove. Redding left the Experince and formed a group called Fat Mattress! It was a fat flop

Yes imaraa75,this is something that music writers don't talk about when they critisize Buddy.He & Billy provided the anchor that allowed jimi to go any place he wanted.Folks have to be fair. The original Exp. where to" Schitzo" rhythmicly to work on the BoG.By the same token Buddy would not have sounded great on "Manic Depression" or "Crosstown Traffic". Different flavors!!
