Before anyone says anything, do note that there are quite a few versions of FFIV out there. There's this, which is the PSX port of the SNES version (which was called FFII in america). There's also a GBA remake, and something about an EasyType version in Japan or something, I don't remember. So yea, there are differences. This is closest to the SNES version. The GBA version isn't anything like this as far as difficulty is, so don't compare.
Okay so battle starts. Zeromus main attack is Big Bang. You will learn to hate this attack. You should know my levels from the previous video, and as you can see, even with ultimate armor, it still hits hard. At LV60-65, Rydia and Edge can barely survive one, much less two in a row. Rosa will have to spam Cure 4 at all times. In fact, if you know Zeromus is about to attack and it's Rosa's turn, hold off on Cure 4 until he attacks (unless you're low on HP). Big Bang also induces a status ailment that saps your HP away as time goes by. This makes it even harder to survive.
So yea, Cecil should attack, Kain should jump, Edge should throw your best whatever, Rosa Cure 4, and Rydia summon Bahamut if you have him (Or Leviathan/Mist). Don't use her Meteo if you have it, it takes FOREVER to cast, and even though it hits for 9k, it makes Zeromus counter with Weak, which you don't want. As for Edge, do note I didn't buy anything for him to throw. And I did NOT do the stupid Excalibur cloning glitch. I can't belive people actually recorded themselves throwing Excaliburs as if no one would notice it. But yea, I only had some things to throw with him. But if you do have powerful weapons to toss away, use them, he can be your best attacker at this level, even though he's extremely weak in defense.
After minutes of pummeling him with attacks, you should win. The other strat is to let Rydia and Edge die if they fall. Rosa's cure is more effective if it heals less people. You can even have just Cecil and Rosa do this if they're LV60-65, with a Cure 4 every turn and an attack from Cecil. Just pray something doesn't go wrong. Oh yea, don't use Holy either, he counters that too. But yea, your most important party members are Rosa (above all) and Cecil. Cure 4 is a MUST to spam, unless you think you're big enough to eat Big Bangs and use Elixers safely. Speaking of which, you CAN buy Elixers in the "secret" cave on the moon. They cost about 100k of gil, and I bought 10, which cost me 1 million gil. But if you've been leveling in the final dungeon, 1 million of gil isn't that hard to get. In fact I've had about 5 million by the time I got to level 60 with everyone. One last word of advice. TURN DOWN BATTLE SPEED. I mean, all the way down. If you don't he'll probably Big Bang you twice in a row before you get C
ure 4 out and it'll be game over. Trust me.

Q: Wasn't this Final Fantasy II on the SNES?
A: The US originally never got the real Final Fantasy II (or the real FFIII), so they eventually got FFIV, but since it was only the second FF to be released in the US it was called FFII on the SNES. All other versions of the game were changed to FFIV in the US, so that is what the game is. The real FFII is a completely different game.
Q: How come Edge doesn't throw any weapons?
A: Too lazy to get them. I didn't even bother getting Excalibur.
Q: Is this on an emulator?
A: Nope, it's the PSX port from the SNES version, it came with a package called Final Fantasy Chronicles that also has a port of Chrono Trigger from the SNES.

So the GBA is much easier? That might explain why sometimes I see Zeromus EG use Big Bang... only to do 500 damage

Dude, I honestly dont' remember the last boss being THAT hard. I mean, granted they were in the 60's and all... I sure as hell don't remember Big Bang doing that much. O_o
I might have to replay this and find out... OR the PSX port changed a few things to make it more challenging. Cause I just played it on the genuine SNES.

You realize that stealing the dark matter from Zeromus before using the crystal will cut Big Bang damage in half, right? It can take a while though.
It definitely does ... ( 4 months ago by Bizkit047)
It definitely does not cut big bang in half. I tried it and did not notice a real big difference. Maybe it's different in other versions of the game, but the PSX remake is what I'm playing.
I grabbed it every ... ( 4 months ago by AuraLancer)
I grabbed it every time I fought him on the PSX, and it seemed like he was doing the same amount as he was in the SNES version, in which the game supposedly acted like you already had it. If there isn't much of a difference, then what's the point of it?
If you grab it ... ( 4 months ago by Bizkit047)
If you grab it everytime how do you know what he normally does? Maybe you're just a high level with bigger defense than I was. I tried it at the level I am now and didn't see any cut in half Big Bang.
I brought it up ... ( 4 months ago by AuraLancer)
I brought it up because:
a. You didn't get it in the video(which is understandable due to the amount of time it can take.)
b. You didn't mention it in your description
c. Someone only vaguely referenced it in your comments.
I've seen most of your videos and can assume you are the kind of person that would have known about it, so I didn't really mean that in a condescending way if that's how you took it.
Nah, Zeromus IS ... ( 4 months ago by SmazUgonih)
Nah, Zeromus IS that difficult in the PSX port. It bugs me to no end, since I could never beat the guy, thanks to Big Bang. Although, in truth, he seems to use that attack more often in my game (I also have the PSX version). I was level 61 on average... still couldn't kill him. Currently this stands as the only FF on the Playstation, that I've played through to the end, in which I couldn't defeat the last boss.
Hmm. I guess they ... ( 4 months ago by Oracion)
Hmm. I guess they did up the difficulty on the PSX port. SNES, I'd say at lvl 60 average, Big Bang would only do about 1.2k on you, and wouldn't dare come close to harming you at all...
Maybe I'll do a check up on it...
I don't remember it ... ( 3 months ago by THEBongPipe)
I don't remember it being that difficult either, it's weird. Yeah, I was playing the SNES version I guess, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I couldn't have been any more than 60-70 and it took about 10 minutes.

There aren't 2 versions of the SNES -- there's the SNES and the Super Famicom(JP) version. Super Famicom is about on par with the PSX version on hardness.

thx for clearing that
Well, there are ... ( 2 months ago by oserek)
Well, there are three versions of Final Fantasy IV on SNES:
Japan version - original, only in japan, but there is a fan made patch (for emulators) that translates it to english
US version aka FF2 - It's much easier than original, and some things are censored, this version just sucks
Japan Easytype version - It's even easier than US version...
And the PSX version is just Japan version translated to english. So, yes, it is harder than US version.
