This is a little known documentary based on the book Future Shock by Alvin Toffler.

This movie came out in 1972 and features Orson Welles as the narrator. I was most amused by the high amount of paranoia in regards to the future... some of the segments (like people choosing their own skin color) are downright hilarious. Worth a look - at the very least for its historical value.
As far as I can tell, this documentary is in the public domain.

I also remember being made to watch this film when I was in school.Discussion of the singularity has made me search for it.For the longest time no one knew what I was talking about and I thought I dreamed it.Thanks for giving me my sanity back.And in the words of Mr. Solo:"Where did you dig up that old fossil?" Really talk about dated...yikes...the music?Yikes!Thank God docudramas have come a long way.There is some shred of truth in it & I think they shredded it for all time.Don't you think if we are going to plug in for pleasure we'll want more than an AC adapter?I do.:)

You paint with a very broad brush...I know of quite a few anti-capitalist who identify with being liberal,,,and BTW also anti-globalization, anarchy, almost anything anti industrial or business related since they wish to return to a simpler working persons paridise...The anti-stem cell types tend to be very religious pro-lifers who would vote for either DEM or GOP based on the abortion issue alone. I think the Business minded GOPers welcome technological progress!

in the jewish book of ethics it says plain and simply "the more possessions man has, the more worries he has" (e.g. direct correlation)
I do believe that there are definitive advantages and drawbacks of these technological upgrades.. one advantage being that we have more time for other things by using prepackaged and premade products/materials while a disadvantage could be the lack of consistency these choices grant us
