Does not make good ... ( 3 weeks ago by vjott)
Does not make good sense to blast Linux because they do not serve up everything to you on a golden platter. People spend hundreds of hours of their LIVES writing code and compiling it to give you an operating system that is freely available. Calling it 'BS' is tantamount to spitting in their faces and telling them to go to hell. You do not NEED a Windows PC to download a Linux ISO or to burn it. You do not NEED proprietary software like Nero.

A PC running a Linux OS such as Sabayon Linux comes with a neat program called K3b, and it can burn ISOs, rip DVDs and CDs and a lot of other tasks that you seem to think only Nero can accomplish. Next, remember that little example I used before about the bricks and the owner providing trucks and transport free? Well, won't you believe it, Canonical the company that sponsors Ubuntu has a free delivery program via Shipit that ships Ubuntu CDs all over the world for free!

No need to 'pirate windows for a day' when you can obtain a LEGAL copy of Ubuntu for free! Also, Fedora has a similar free distribution program as well, hence there is no excuse for participating in such illegal activity. Ubuntu, Fedora as well as most other Linux OS have a very lively tech support community of friendly people who would be glad to help you out with any technical problems you may encounter. Windows is alright, but do they offer free shipment? Is a (legal) copy of Windows free?

If you think that Vista is 'for the poor and disadvantaged', then you probably have $199.95 lying around somewhere for Vista Basic, $259.95 for Home Premium, $299.95 for Vista Business or $319.95 for Ultimate. Rather lavish considering that you are 'a pensioner wanting to upgrade from 98se and have got together $7.90 per month from my budget to buy internet from Dodo.'

I mean don't get me wrong either... I completely agree with your statements... and there's nothing wrong with mixing it up with both CLI and GUI... I think Ubuntu for example is a great distro of Linux... I'm sure many people including myself use it and find that it just works for what they need it for

I understand what ... ( 2 weeks ago by holdencruze)
I understand what you are saying, we dont have a trcuk either ! Linux free bricks are so inaccessable to a poor person, as opposed to a person from an impoverished nations getting heroc support.
We have no UN trucks at our disposle either, we are just poor. We do not expect to learn a degree and workout Linux only to become yuppies in the future. We are just poor, without support.
Heroc builds community and we are excluded. I assume you are on your way to wealth or milking Linux cow?
No one I know is ... ( 2 weeks ago by holdencruze)
No one I know is aware of that. There is no such community here which shows this, except for money at the TAFE.
You have to have this working first ? How do you do this without Windows Technology ? There is no Linux Community here, nothing is for free, only what I learn and provide to less fortunate.
I hoped that would be Linux. I dont expect you to realise what I know about operating systems. I know enough to see a poison chalice. This is more rubbing poor in poor's face.
Vjott Oh ! This is ... ( 2 weeks ago by holdens4u)
Vjott Oh ! This is Australia, we dont have Linux on hand we have to go to Library and order it on Windows PC.
I have tried every Linux, Fedora, Unix, Ubuntu, Gentoo, it is all amusement for will be yuppies, smoke and mirrors and a boy scout badge for students who work it out.
Later they go back to windows. How can we access support without OS ? dah ! without OS computer is boat anchor.
Linux is not available to poor people, just advantaged who are part of a community. Yuppies !
Vjott, we come from ... ( 2 weeks ago by holdens4u)
Vjott, we come from different worlds and I am aware of yours it gets UN support, mine gets none, so you are unaware. You think poor people come from impoverished countries with dirt floors in one room huts.
Poor people can come from those countries which built heroc.
Windows came pre load on every PC in OZ. All have atleast win 98se, if scan hd for number.
I think 98se can do as much for the poor, than Linux in any distro.
Linux makes poor feel worthless, windows works, user friendly
google Vista Lite. ... ( 2 weeks ago by holdens4u)
google Vista Lite. Works on 256 ram and I have installed on 600mhz pc.
Developed in India by a genius. Takes little hd space and offers all Vista conveniences.
He is a Developer, and has trailed his distro in third world countries.
Loads in less than 35 minutes, just insert cd and wait. Absolutely nothing to do.
Bricks, truck and transport all provided. No begging a community needed, self esteem in tact.
Only windows has this platform and opportunity. Linux stripped = train wreck.

That is one of the most atractive things in GNU/Linux, Compiz, when people see it, instantly they want to have Linux, even if they dont know Windows.
But even you dont have knowledge of terminals, you could use an Ubuntu, Knoppix based distro, most of today Linux distros are start to being more easy than back in the days.
I use Debian and runs fine with all that stuff, but at the end is just an eye-candy and doesnt give something usefull, at least Desktop Switch.
