Thanks for posting ... ( 10 months ago by bwworld)
Thanks for posting this! I disagree with the previous poster--it's impossible to really tell the quality of his images at this resolution and on screen for such a short time. A couple of them IMHO were fantastic, especially the couple with the baby carriage framed by scaffolding. If this was all shot in one session, he has a pretty high "hit" rate.

Hey, I shoot a lot of film and street and can tell you, I deal with failure more than success. i think those shots were from the sessions he had a camera crew following him. You can't shake that loose. It doesn't matter whether these images are good or bad. Just look at his portfolio and his body of work.

Cameras don't take pictures, photographers do. Cameras are just another artist's tool.
Maybe because it's entirely an artist's eye, patience and skill that makes an image and not his tools.
Even Ansel said "The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it."

i think both the camera and the photographer is important. unless you can take a picture without a camera:)

At least he's making good use of the light. Streetlight is awesome, it's the best quality you can get. Studio light is not as real. He has the right approach, insight and he's not just registrating but also making art.

You can also get ... ( 1 week ago by quietman18)
You can also get good candids by learning to shoot from the hip/waist with a wide angle so that noone knows you're shooting. Or get a camera with a viewfinder that flips up and use it as a waist level viewfinder. Another trick I use is to point the camera at the subject and look at another direction so they don't know you're photographing them.
