GB and the USSR were not that close at the end of WWII. Poland, Grece, the Balkans,...Churchil understood much before Rossevelt did about the threat that USSR represented for all countries "liberated" the red army from the germans. The threat to the world. But Churchil did not received much support to stop them. It was only under Truman that things changed and the soviets could not go much furher.

Right. FDR decided that the U.S. could live with the USSR, but not with Nazi Germany. And so, he and other war patriots worked to get the U.S. into the war before they had an excuse to. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was to the FDR what the Reichstag fire was to the NS-regime.
