Hi,sirjuggs --- so, that was a common problem with the Dead's sound-mix? I never got to see them live (sacrilege, I know). I think some of it is that Jerry's voice is/was, after all, on the weak side (which gave it its endearing "old prospector" quality :-)), and Weir's is unusually strong and punchy.

Jerry Garcia kind of had the Steve Martin thing going where, whenever yo usee a clip of him, he looks the same age. He was what, 38 here? He looks way older than 38, but he didn't look any older 15 years later when he died.

I am so happy that you younger ones love the Grateful Dead. It is unfortunate you never could have seen them live because there was absolute magic in the air at the live shows. I saw Jerry and the boys over 100 times from 1988 to 1995. I feel very blessed because seeing the Dead was an incredible part of my youth. I am a better person for following the Dead. The music will live on because the youth can appreciate the greatness that was the Grateful Dead.
