*A strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny
*An organized set of beliefs and faith regarding the spiritual or metaphysical world.
*A set of attitudes, beliefs, and practices pertaining to supernatural power
Since the underlying principles of Kabbalah do adhere to the definitions above taken from the dictionary, it is therefor a religion.
- "Belief" doesn't exist in Kabbalah. One of its first rules is "the judge has only what his eyes can see," meaning that if you don't attain a clear perception of the force controlling our reality, then you shouldn't blindly believe it exists (like people do in religion). This is one of the main reasons why Kabbalah is a science, and definitely not a religion.
That right there is pure interpretation and pure theory. Many mystics/traditions have stated the contrary. Whenever two or more opposing views appear all under the name of "clear perception" i do not see how this can be empirically qualified as 'scientific'.
we are One!!!
"A religion is a way of life based on tenets (or a belief system) about the ultimate power."
Kaballah is a belief system about how one can gain knowledge about the nature of reality, which is in a sense the ultimate power.
You will often hear something similar from from buddhists who say that buddhism is not a religion but a way of life or a set of methodlogies.
Religion is the search for spiritual truth from a source outside of oneself. Kaballah is the search for spiritual truth from the source inside oneself.
