appazvf, to be fair this song was sang before any of us were born, unless you were born during the civil war, which I doubt lol. No one knows who wrote it but, it is an awesome song and I love Frigid Pink's Cover more than any I've heard.

Get it straight! Yeah, both Frijid Pink & Iron Butterfly were considered 'Acid Rock' bands; and, yes, they abused alcohol & drugs; but, they gave us some of the greatest music ever! "The House Of The Rising Sun" & "In A Gadda Da Vida" are proof - esp. noting the # of posts for both one can find on YouTube today; & those who weren't even born when these were hits are, still, today fans & lovers of this music!
