Great job Walter on converting the interviewer! YEAH!!! LIBERTARIANISM!! WOOO!
He is actually ... ( 9 months ago by yahooshua)
He is actually incorrect about Exxon. After everything was said in done the Captains alcohol problem actually had nothing to do with it because he was asleep and not in charge of the ship at the time. It was actually his first mate who was severely sleep deprived that fell asleep at the wheel. That never got on the media because the story was old not NEWs. But he still correct. They should have a MWT (Maintenance of Wakefulness Test). Which is becoming standard for pilots.

Thanks for that correction
i agree with a lot ... ( 8 months ago by richard911truth)
i agree with a lot he has to say, but remeber bayer and factor 8? that was fully free market and they were really scumbags for doing that whole deal. Knowing it was tainted then selling it overseas so they could profit.
You can't really be ... ( 8 months ago by takadi)
You can't really be perfect in a free market society, and Walter recognizes that. The difference though is that a socialist or corporatist society inadvertently (or sometimes purposely) props up those corrupt systems where these scumbags can exist.
Bayer's screw up had to do with the failure of the FDA. In a true free market, consumer investigations and reports would be a major force in the market.

haha yeah, he did a great job. It's not usual to be so succesful at convincing the interviewer like he did.

Not to mention in a free market, the company would be sued out of existence, not protected by governmental "limited liability".
Maybe I'm wrong ... ( 5 months ago by passerby23)
Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I don't think that's what Block was saying. He was saying the reason the captain was hired on in the first place was because of the alcohol disability laws that mandate their hiring. Also, was he asleep because he was drunk or just tired? The fact that an inept captain was sleeping paving the way for a sleep deprived first mate is precisely the problem Blcok is speaking of. At least, that's how I interpreted it.
It was the first ... ( 5 months ago by yahooshua)
It was the first mate that was at the wheel. The captain probably was asleep because it was his time to sleep.
Block is talking ... ( 5 months ago by bimmjim)
Block is talking about Canada. When he says that the government owns 90% of the land, he is wrong. That land is public land. I am one of the public in Canada. I OWN THAT LAND. GET YOUR HANDS OFF IT BLOCK.
Please google "CASSE" and learn more. We must change our economic systems.
Sure...just like ... ( 3 months ago by cmbradford)
Sure...just like every police car is "public" property aka your property. Try using that for your own interests. Just because it is "public" doesn't mean that you will have any right to use it. It most cases you won't be able to use this public land.
I use police cars ... ( 3 months ago by bimmjim)
I use police cars for their intended purpose.
Eg A drunken bum smashes his car into my front yard. I call the cops. They arrive in their(my) police car. They catch the idiot. I recover my loss.
I have been using my public land for over 50 years. Here is a list of what I have used it for: hiking, camping, kyaking, hunting, fishing, berry picking, gathering fire wood, dirt bike riding, swimming, spelunking, climbing, photographing etc. It is my land and I will tell the Gov. what to do.
It is funny that ... ( 2 months ago by cmbradford)
It is funny that you mention camping and hiking, etc. because my friend who loves the wilderness recently went on a 3 month camping trip in a national park or one of your public lands. Since he has been up there, he has been harassed by park rangers that he doesn't have a permit to stay out in the "public" forest. Reminds me of the King's forest and how you need permission to use it. The concept of public land isn't as freely open to the public as one might assume.
So basically my ... ( 2 months ago by cmbradford)
So basically my friend discovered that he needs to fill out all this paper work and be searched by government officials in order to use this public land. Not so public after all, and trust me, the government tells him what to do. In fact, he is trying to survival for a couple of months but the park rangers won't allow him to make a camp fire... So just keep on telling yourself that you control the government.
