B.B. King plays live guitar solo. This came from the extras on the DVD The Road to Memphis:

And the only other complete perfomance by BB on the extras is Key to the Highway, which doesn't have this incredibly searing guitar and is in fact pretty "lite".

You've got to respect all the emotion he puts into each and every performance. He is a master of the blues, and blues isn't about speed or noise. It's about feeling the music. He is one of the greatest ever at doing just that.

Also have you heard some things from earlier in his career? He had a lot of riffs that not a lot of guys could pull of. This doesn't need to be a competition, so why don't we let Steve Vai do his thing and B.B. do his.

Playing Blues with emotions doesn't necessarely mean "good to hear". My 4 years old brother can play blues with a lot of feelings, but that sounds horrible. I have to say BB is one of the first real blues man, but I personally hate his sound and I am so tired of his easy licks.

I agree that playing with emotions doesn't necessarily mean good to hear, but when you're as experienced a player as B.B. King, playing with emotion definitely does help the way he plays.

Just because he has "easy licks" doesn't mean its not great music. He's been playing and playing very well since before you were born, and probably still could play as good as most anyone. However, this is what he chooses to do, and might I say he's dang good at it.

It is so sad. So many music programs are being taken out of schools to save a buck as a result we have a bunch of young people who don't know a thing about real music. If you are going to crack on B.B. I suggest you go study your American & Music history first. The 1920's thru 1970's particularlly the Southern states. Get to know the blues masters and their stories. B.B. and others like him built the foundation of many of the worlds greatest musicians. It is all there. Open a book!

...Oh and one more thing. Even after we are all gone musicians will still be looking for inspiration from the past. Many will draw from B.B. King. Like it or not those are the facts. You can keep slamming B.B. all you want, but it will not change anything. Your "opinion" does not carry any weight.
