Update: Second time around. Time used since new - 65 minutes. Power transformer number 2 is now charcoal. I suspect a faulty air compressor. Release/relief valve sometimes sounds like it sticks shut and when it does the pump motor hums like it is stalled. Perhaps this overloads the power supply.

Haven't had a chance to unpick the seams yet to look at the inners. I think I'm still waiting for a good excuse to dissect it! A faulty compressor is not quite reason yet! :) I played Crysis wearing it and there wasn't enough full-on action to really appreciate the sporadic pokes. The vest really needs to dish out more pain to appreciate such intermittent force feedback.

It would appear the vest uses proprietary force feedback data and to include FF for the vest into other games you have to roll your own plugin. To make use of the nifty air bladders with microsoft FF games the USB controller may need a triple valve bypass.

Works with PC but not ps3. I don't know whether ps3 actually sends out real force feedback data, it could just be lame rumble effects. I guess you could tap into a rumbler control and send that signal to the controller valves on the vest and get an amplified feeling similar to a vibrating speaker but closer to your body?

Great review, very detailed and interesting. Another thing, the vest can be "Hacked" or modified to work with any game that supports force feedback for regular gaming controlers.

They have a list of the limited amount of games you can use the vest with on their website. They also supply a roll your own plugin SDK so if you are programmy savvy then you might be able to cobble up your own.
