At One minute and 25 seconds the objects form 12:45 I wonder what that means?

The sundials display time and 12:45 should be recognized by as many as possible as "time". A quarter to one PM.
Just like 1980 is most likely to be recognized as a year and the number 18 as an age.
That and that alone is why 12:45 was chosen.

The failed return is an open end. Did he try to get back and did something go wrong or did he change his mind and choose a different destination at the very last moment?
The telescope kind of indicates that whatever happened, the place is now deserted.

Ben but hasn't it been stated by some scientist that if time travel was possible if we went back in time it would cause a parallel version of our time where time has been changed but our reality would remain the same? Just theorizing is all.

The Austin Powers hype was deemed important by A&R, but I agree it would have been stronger without the quotes.
