Our apologies, wasn't aware that the Irish had a monopoly on something like the "yelp". We'll be sure to take some lessons so that we can properly do it next time. Different cultures appreciate music differently. Some audiences are more vocal about their appreciation then others even within that culture. Music isn't always just about the music itself, but the performance of it and the moment its in. There shouldn't be a "dress code" on how one appreciates music.

I totally agree with you, we can do whatever we want as regards appreciating music (its the thought that counts!). Americans yelping are, nonetheless, very funny though! Regarding the classes, I could probably do with some myself, wouldn't it be the funniest thing to overhear if you didn't know what was going on. A whole roomfull of people letting out little howls, while the teacher paces the room, correcting people occasionally.

I jsut picked up a bodhran...this guy is my new idol. When I picutred what type of tones I wnated to do with the Bodhran, this is what was in my head. I didn't know the Bodhran could do quadruplet beats, I thought everything was supposed to be triplet based...this is excellent.

Sorry, what other musicians were following his lead in that Bodhran SOLO? The age of Bodhran quietly accompanying a fiddle player died when trad session music was born in the pubs and clubs of the south west of Ireland. I would suggest a visit to the trad music festival in Cahirsiveen next August bank holiday. You may be pleasantly suprised!

Have you heard his other stuff though?? He's one of the best accompaning musicians that I've ever heard! along with John Doyle, the urgency and artistry that they add to backing tunes is second to none! While, yes, his solos are very flashy, nothing he plays when backing a tune is out of place. It's always perfect.
