he called her a mudblood, and to lily, thats where he crossed the line. snape felt really bad ever since and has always defended anyone being called one. also, his patronus became lily's patronus. so cute!

to the Death Eaters hatred of 'Mudbloods', and their desire to do away with such people. He was a typical insecure teenage boy who thought that if he could demonstrate his independence by being involved in something powerful, she would be impressed and become his girlfriend. Emotions such as love have no logic, and he did not grasp the idea that the Death Eaters don't make exception to 'some Mudbloods' just because they're likable.

Lily, as most girls who are friends with boy, probably thought that Severus felt the same way about her as she for did for him; 'just friends', but very good friends at that. A girl can't possibly know what goes through an insecure boy's mind when he tries to do things he thinks will impress her, such as Severus dabbling in the Dark Arts and showing appreciation to Death Eaters. Though intellectually he must have grasped where this would all lead to, he thought Lily could be an 'exception'

Thats true he does look like james.
From the book it does seem as if Lilly became aware that Snape had more then friendly feelings towards her when he was going off about James having a thing for her, because Snape was looking at her intensly making her blush and he could barely form a sentence and her eyebrows were going up her head a few notchs, I just don't think she ever felt more for him which is sad, poor snape makes me not like Lilly lol

His mention of James is what makes her Blush. Cause then she says he's stupid but she's trying so hard no to blush after that statment. Plus she really didn't need to list everything she thought that James did that made him stupid to James himself.
