Actually, I've seen ...( 3 months ago by TheLogicJunkie)
Actually, I've seen the entire length of the Milgram experiments, and most of the subjects actually refused to continue administering shocks. I disagree strongly with the common interpretation of the Milgram experiment, that the majority of the people were willing to continue. It's just not true, when you look at the tapes. There were actually endemic cultural differences between America then and Nazi Germany. Nowadays, however, America is not the same. It's much more sadistic.

Actually I highly doubt you have seen all of them because the Milgram experiments took place using 1000's of test subjects. And 37% refused to keep going on, which leave's the other 63% which would be most of the test subjects. Get your facts straight before saying stuff like that and misleading people!
Actually, I was ...( 3 months ago by TheLogicJunkie)
Actually, I was shown the full film length of test footage that was done of the experiments. If there were more experiments done than I was shown film clips of, well, that's not entirely my fault, is it. You're not being particularly fair when you indict someone for not knowing things that were withheld from them, are you. So, it's possible that you're right, and that I haven't seen all of the experiments, so you have my apology and concession as far as that goes...

So, let me be clearer than I was in my original statement: I've seen the length of film footage of the experiments, and what I saw does not support the typical party line that the experiment resoundingly proved that the vast majority of the participants were easily-suggestible sheep who effortlessly caved in to comforming to cruelty. The underlying culture of America at that time was not nearly as authoritarian as that of Nazi Germany, so there are limitations to the generalizability of it.

Thats why I said you should check your facts before you state them. I was simply correcting you however I do apologize for coming of rude. its hard to express proper emotions over the internet at times.

No worries. Thanks for understanding. But please be aware that it's part of a lively process of getting to the truth, which is hopefully the main goal, by challenging each other. Thanks for straigtening me out, by the way. It's all for the best.

That's hugely incorrect. You are assuming far to much based solely on clips. 65% of the subjects fully obeyed the researchers and administered what they thought was the highest level of shock. This percent remained stable even when a new group of people were told the people being shocked had heart problems.
