Video Description:
Mr. Malouchos interviews the President of The Parliament of The Hellenes, and asks the reason why the entire parliament, with overwhelming multipartisan support, voted to publish under its aegis The 59-CD and one DVD set containing Mr. Theodorakis's life narratives.
The following partial translation is humbly submitted for those few that may not be familiar with the glorious Hellenic Language, except for Messrs. Clogg and Bien.
Mr. Malouchos: "Mrs. President, The Parliament of The Hellenes decided to place under its Aegis the special edition of the 'Documented Eyewitness' series: 'Mikis Theodorakis -Axios Esti- (Praiseworty Be He). An audio CD set consisting of fifty-nine disks, as well as, a two-volume printed edition containing the narrative of Mikis Theodorakis's entire life; A political Hellenic life spanning eighty years. Why did The Parliament make such a decision?"
Mrs. Anna Mpenaki-Psarouda: " In my opinion, it was an imperative, a self-evident/exlanatory decision, because Mikis Theodorakis -and I start from his political persona- is a stand-out personality that has played a significant role in the Hellenic scene.
His political journey/career has been a long one, filled with many perturbations and consequently is, in some way, a mirror image/reflection of the political life of contemporary Hellas.
He is an intellectual that has contributed with his deepest thoughts and with eloquence that characterizes them.
He was member of the Parliament, as well as a Minister, consequently a prominent part of our political history.
If, in addition to the above accomplishments, we include Mikis Theodorakis's other persona, and with that I mean, that of the great artist, you understand that The Parliment of the Hellenes, under the circumstances, could not remain on the sidelines, indifferent, and allow the initiative of two private-sector entities to steal the thunder, so to speak.
On the contrary, The Paliament, wanted to play an active role in the honor to be bestowed, as well as, to contribute to the continuation and preservation of Mr. Theodorakis's work."
His Chronicles were recorded over a period spanning more than two months at Mr. Theodorakis's house that has clear view of the Parthenon.
