Releasing an album without a label is quite easy these days, many bands do it but it has only been brought to the mainstream since radiohead's success so this cannot be a bearing on how big a sell out a group is.

It's pop-structured... but I wouldn't call it pop. Radiohead is really alternative rock, or more specifically, art rock. Led Zeppelin had words, melody, verse, chorus and structure... and yet they are in no way pop. That is unless you are referring to pop as in the old definition of popular music, rather than the more modern definition of a specific genre of popular music.

Bollocks to "art rock" and all that nonsense. It's pop music, and Thom has -explicitly stated- as such. "We write pop songs, As time has gone on, we've gotten more into pushing our material as far as it can go. But there was no intention of it being 'art.'
