Hey look at it this way... If people THINK that those bands are goth, then all the Poseur/Wannabes will go and listen to that. Thats actually a good thing, because, it keeps real goths more "In the Dark" and it makes it really easy to spot a poseur...

In the '80's, you were just as likely to see Goths dancing to The Doors, The Cramps, as you would to see them dancing to the Sisters, Alien Sex Fiend and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. There were no stores selling generic "Gothic" clothing such as it is now. Like Punk, you made it up as you went along. Today's "Goths" tend to have other Goth/Goth Metal bands as their influence. WTF is up with Emo? The kids who are into it think they are "edgy" and "alternative" somehow. They have NO idea. Poor sods.

All music Progresses. I am not a fan of metal, therefore I don't like the modern Metal Influenced bands...However i have found a few good Modern Bands, Like Frank The Baptist, and even Creature Feature can be good sometimes...

Yeah i just read some of his work, Defiantly not liking it. I guess my biggest thing about it is that I feel that Goth came from Experimental, not Punk. Punk bands did come into the scene, but if punk had never happened, goth still would have happened.
Either way, it doesn't mater.
He stereotypes goths to much... And the whole thing just seems to "Friendly"...

From what I read about the 70s-80s it seems that experimental was how to draw attention. It seems like it spawned A Flock of Seagulls, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Joy Division... Skinny Puppy... ect.

Depeche mode, (A Personal Hatred Of Mine) I whould not consider Experimental.
Soft Cell... no Comment.
Joy Division, "Post-Punk" (Personally i hate that term) is considered rather gothic. But in more of a "The Cure" Being gothic, than SoM, or even bauhaus.
Skinny Puppy "Industrial" When i hear the term Experimental, I think of Trobbing Gristle. So this is not to far off.

Alright, so.
I don't exactly see the "Punk" in Goth Rock...
The on;y punk sounding groups are groups such as...
Siouxsie, The Damned, Both Punk Groups that went "Goth" for a while.
There is Goth-Punk bands, Corpus Delecti comes to mind.
I think that Punk and goth seem to randomly come together now and then, but I don't see the Punk at all.
Also as a side note, I have a good friend who loves punk, and can't stand my old goth records... And I can't stand his Punk.

Ok finally, last comment, When i think of "Experimental goth" i think of Bauhaus, listen to the old music video... I have it under my favorites if you can't find it. It has clocks ticking for the beat, a Bass guitar, and Peter Murphy's singing in his rather unique style.
