This is really cool and great tech, but imo it has no real use, like, what's the point of a touch screen desktop, u have 2 lean over more than u do now and what if u wanted to be away form screen, it would just be novelty. saying that though, i want one. =)

the technology behind this has been around for twenty years. It's about time we get to chuck the mouse and keyboard interface for something more intuitive, and with better interface options. The speed with which you manipulate a program would increase, I'm sure. And for us artists this is even better.

Saw this first 2 years ago.... this is Apple research. was not intended for release as a product but to research touch use for smaller devices ie. iPod Touch / iPhone and future laptops !! Micr0$oft then took it up the wrong way ... started making a $10,000 table, which is already 6 months over due to rival a product Apple were never intending to release !!!! Good work Bill. Good work.

are you kidding me? you obviously dont understand what kind off possibilities are introduced here. What I mean is that this begins to bridge the gap between what you think of as far as a user and a machine. with time you will begin to see that human activity will meld WITH computer activity. putting humans either in absolute control in the digital world or in less control? I dont know yet but you must begin to see what this can do for us. just wondering are you a digital artist?

Ok, I see some misinformation in here. Yes, it is true that this is not Apple research, but this IS the technology behind the iPhone.
Apple bought it from Jefferson Yan. It was announced before the iPhone was originally announced and then it further backed up the possibility of an iPod with a touch screen.

This also has NOTHING TO DO with Microsoft Surface or whatever they are calling it. I believe the MS table uses cameras or sensors or something directly under the table to produce the effect. If they used this technology they would be infringing on Apple's patent.
