That's what they're after.
That's why these hard core kook fringe leftist idiots oppose doing anything about increasing domestic oil production.
Should there be a new cold war or should russia expand their borders that is my business, because it might get me killed.
I do agree, that russia is not the only one, who missbehaved, but if a province suddenly declares independence, what do you expect Tiflis to do?
And even to the independent media, two dead reporters and one dead author are one strong signal.
Besides, beinh a central european liberal student, I hav reeeeeally much in common with Bush.
What do you expect the russians and arabs to say?
"The oil is basically all we have to live off, so take more of it for less money, because we love you so much for what you did to us"?
Independence from oil is the answer to a lot of our problems.
And before you state absolutely unproven and ridiculous claims about some people not being ready for democracy, take a look, who in a country is not interested in democratic circumstances.
Who quoted Sarah Palin?
I missed that part.
In Iraq, there was always the danger of a civil war, which Hussein had held down with an iron hand.
But you must make a difference between the people of a country not being interested in democracy and the non democratic leaders not being interested in democracy.

It's kind of hard to get people enthusiastic about overthrowing a dictator, who has been known to use poison gas against his own citizens. And I do agree, that democracy can not be imposed by military force, nor is it perfect. But in combination with a constitution that protects minorities and equal rights for everyone is, though not perfect, still the best opportunity we have.
And maybe you should ask the gay people or aposthesists in arab countries, wheather they would like a change in the system.
Again, I do not condone any acts of war, but as long as we are depending from oil, we will
I agree, that the US Government is criminal and despicable, but so are the Ayatollahs, so was Saddam Hussein, so are the taliban, the chinese central committee, Ahmadinejad, the Knesset, the pope and Putin (and his ventriloquism puppet Medvedjev).
(My spelling of names might be inaccurate, because German spelling of non - Indo-European languages is somewhat different from the English spelling.)
