And the flaming lips are onl known because they were on a salad dressing commercial...and maybe because they were on the soundtrack for fifa street 2. Personally, i think the flaming lips are way less diverse than the chili peppers

Yeah right, their last album had 28 songs, all of which sounded completely different. I saw them at the Xcel Energy center in MN, sick Frusciante solos. I think your off your rocker wrong on that one bud.

I have a lot of respect for the Chili Peppers (they were my first favorite band) but they don't really try anything new. By the Way and Stadium were both bland albums and the Chili Peppers have been sticking to the same formula for over a decade. The Flaming Lips have been all over the map; they don't stand in one place and it always sounds very fresh. Plus, "The Soft Bulletin" is completely amazing.

awesome performance of this song but...is it just me...or does wayne coyne look like he's not even playing any chords and just playing open notes? lol. the song cant be synced becuz its pretty damn different than the recording anyway..

could be some funky tuning he's using where he's just playing strumming an open chord...
otherwise, why bother even holding the guitar?
plus if he wasnt playing, i think his hand would still be making some sound against the strings...who knows

i think they're both completley diff. bands The lips are way more Pink Floydish RHCPs more rock with some funk sprinkled in. and an album doesnt have to have all song sounding different. i think of the songs have the same sound to it that makes it an album and where the artist was in their career. Like Rubber Soul by the beatles has this sound to it that makes the album rubber soul, if you were to put any other beatles song on it, it wouldn.t fit, which is what they did when they remasterd it

I think theres some crazy effect on that guitar so it doesnt even sound like a guitar.. its possible its tuned to a chord, but when i saw them live that acoustic sounded mighty odd
