Francoise Hardy - Des Bottes Rouges De Russie
Uploaded by: Amanzi1
Video Description:
DES BOTTES ROUGES DE RUSSIE
Paroles et musique: A. Popp, J.-M. Rivat, F. Thomas, 1969
-----------------------------------------
Here is another very rare song from Ms Hardy. The EP (45) has 1968 stamped on it, most websites state 1969.
Someone requested this from me a few weeks ago. The 45 has a bit of surface noise, but still sounds nice.

Paroles
------------------------------
J'arriverai par le vapeur
Tu me reconnaîtras, mon coeur
J'aurai sous mon manteau de pluie
Des bottes rouges de Russie
On s'est quitté, j'avais dix ans
J'avais des tresses et des rubans
On buvait du sirop d'orgeat
Pourtant tu me reconnaîtras
J'aurai sous mon manteau de pluie
Des bottes rouges de Russie
Je sais que j'aimerais Cherbourg
As-tu là-bas quelques amours?
Vois-tu la mer de ton balcon?
Joues-tu encore de violon?
Ce sera le temps du lilas
Sur le quai j'aurai ce jour là
Comme sur la photographie
Des bottes rouges de Russie
J'arriverai par le vapeur
Tu me reconnaîtras, mon coeur
J'aurai sous mon manteau de pluie
Des bottes rouges de Russie.

Would you have Assiette Niet or Nuit d'ete? Both are pretty songs and I don't think they are readily available whether on CD or online store like Itunes, though I stand to corrected on that. Anyhow, it's great that you're sharing songs that aren't available otherwise.

I have Assiette Niet. It's on the flip side of Le Crabe. I'll check through my albums for Nuit d'ete - I don't have it on one of the old 45's. I have noticed I have "now you want to be loved", which is the English version of Des Ronds Dans L'eau. I haven't listened to it yet. I'm in the process of copying all my vinyls to CD, so I'll copy those two next weekend and post something.

For your information, "Nuit d'été" has never been released on an album. It's only available on the A side of the 45t "La berlue" (Sonopresse, 1972) with a lovely picture of Françoise wearing a hat. Compliments, only very few Hardy lovers know them! In my opinion, the songs of 1968-72 are the best in her long career! She was at her most elegant and creative.

I have located the 45! I agree on the 68 to 72 being her best. I must admit though that I have a huge fondness for the simplicity of the songs in the first few years of her recordings. i.e. 62 - 64. I used to sing along to them as a child and that is perhaps why. But I still think they are good.

The very first songs have a kind of freshness about, but I prefer "comment te dire adieu" , "le crabe", "l'éclairage" - and the english album "1-9-7-0". I'm also a fan of her looks of the period, especially the Paco Rabanne's outfits that suited her perfectly. Too bad Françoise lost her interest for haute couture - though she remains an inspiration for Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga's.But this is another story...

Would you have "Son amour s'est endormi"(1965). It's a peculiar melody, full of gravity, with both low tones and some more high pitched accents, and fine guitar accompaniment. I miss it.

Hello, yes I do have that one. I'll try to post it some time this week or next. I bought some images on eeeebaaaiii (won't let me post if it detects that name.. LOL) As soon as I get the new images I'll put the song up. It is a good song! I think that my version may be a remix though.

Parapluies, manteau de pluie...it is often said to be rainy in Cherbourg. This is a delicate literary excursus (Proust is not that far-away), with a fragrance of "Belle Epoque", in FH's brilliant career.
