People, especially black women, want all men to be on the "down low." It used by others (non heterosexual men) as an excuse as to why so men are turned off the by the radical feminist, ultra materialistic, selfish and the entitlement driven attitudes that said women posses.

Bottom line, if you are gay, you are gay, you personal choice/preference no one else's. But when a woman makes poor choices in a mate, has an foul attitude, and is otherwise is found unattractive by men, the knee jerk reaction is to blame someone else. "I can't get a man, then something is wrong with men and not me." Instead of self reflection, these females take the easy way and blame everyone else for their mistakes. Hence you have things like the "down low" myth projected onto black men.

This is what I do, anytime I meet a new woman and she asks me if I'm gay, I answer no then ask her if she's a slut. She'll get offended, then I'll express to her that I'm just as offended, so why is one more ok than the other? She'll usually agree.
The same way these women are concerned that men are gay on the low, there are A LOT of black women who are sluts on the low. And sluts and gay men are equally dangerous to our health.

A lot of DL guys do not use condoms b/c thy they have wives, girlfriends, may be even both and they can't let any one know that they are gay. They are the biggest risks for HIV/AIDS. Safe sex is the best though but when you live this DL life it is dangerous.
