CrackBadgeer52, you do have a good point. I have seen Video here about MMA going to thailand to train Muaythai and went back to the MMA/UFC and dominated the Standup fighting and with a little bit of Takedown Defense. I forgot his name. Training muaythai in Thailand and train in most USA muaythai gym is different I have to say.
I like to add that Muaythai do have takedown,throwdown and grappling but not train in the "sport" MuayChaiya have Grappling if I see the vid right in here.

Yea I only did Muay Thai for a few months when I was living down the road from a club but I saw how vicious it is the first few days I was there.
Whenever we practiced those shin kicks with a partner my leg would be dead after getting kicked in the tigh a few times. A full force kick would probably break someones leg if he didn't block it.
Before taking that class I didn't even know the shin is what you use to cause damage not the foot. I also realized elbows cause way more damagethan punches

Those takedown, throwdown, grappling, or breaking or whatever belong to Muay Boran sir :P Muay Chiaya is one of them which is still alive - -* (sad)
However Muay Thai is just a sport in the ring that can BE AS USEFUL AS other martials, but the real Thai martial art is Muay Boran which Muay Thai took just a little bit of technics from <3

FightingSiamFish, Thx for clearifing that. from what i know muayBoran means Ancient Muay. Knowing that I'm lao. They have a Demo on youtube show a Sawatdee exercise and some takedown at the School. Either way it was adapt nor I care to correct the same type of Muay. Muaythai is a Sport for the Masses to watch and a little safer for the fighter. than again what do I know I'm not Muay Burmba, muay Lao, Muay thi, MuayKhmer which in turn is call Muay Boran/AncientMuay

Yeah I'm not sure at this point but I think Muay Thai, Muay Lao, Muay Thai Burma, and Muay Khmer are all the same but Thais just use it the best, so Muay Thai is just the most well-known :P
