If the calls are right or wrong there is no reason to pull that crap.
If you were told that, then you were given very bad advice and trust me, if I'm back there, your ass would be out of the game, as would the pitcher's and your coach's.
I don't put up with any bullshit in my game. NONE. Of course, I hold the local record for season ejections as an umpire anyway. Haha.

the pitcher probably wasnt getting some calls he thought were maybe strikes so he decided to be a butt and tell the catcher to duck so he could hit the ump

Like i care about your umping. You wouldnt know if it was intentional or not. I could have just gotten up right as the pitcher was ready to throw the ball.
But like i said if the ump is good and calling a fair game then it doesnt have to happen. Call it fair for both teams and dont switch the strike zone when your team shows up and it doesnt have to happen.
You could hold the local record for ejections and i would still make sure the ball hit you in someway.

Actually, if I know for a fact it's intentional, I'd probably call a forfeit.
Trust me I know what's intentional and what's not. Good for that particular umpire suing the asses off of the pitcher's parents, also good for the state high school association for putting the school on probation and good on the NCAA for revoking the catcher's scholarship.

I've never been thrown at like that but I've seen happen to some of my partners. It doesn't happen often any more. Most coaches have learned that only bites them in the back side. At least three people get tossed.
There is no excuse for that. That's the same as throwing at a batter's head.

Ejections are not the mark of a great umpire.
Hard work, good mechanics, and professionalism make a great umpire. I don't tolerate STUFF either but I get the situation under control. I've had 25 ejections in 11 years. That is from NCAA to T-ball to adult slow pitch.
Teams respect me for my hard work. They know they can approach me and get an honest answer. They TRUST ME to get the call right even if it goes against them. Do you want to be known as a fair Blue or jerk with a mask?

Have you ever called a game?
Have you ever put on the gear in 100 degree heat and NOT get to sit in the dugout for half the game. Dressed up in 5 layers of clothes to freeze in 30 degrees and 25 mile an hour winds.
Even the worst umpires WANT to get the call right because we are just like you. We hate to be wrong about anything just as much as you.

If you are so concerned about winning that you are willing to hurt someone to do it,then you are not a athlete You are a baby... If the umpire is so bad,get the booking agent to get rid of him,don't try to hurt him.....Most umpires want to and do get the calls right...but after all,they are only humans!

i think its a little funny. maybe a little overboard but from a players perspective umpires really piss me off sometimes. actually a lot. and in high school we're not even allowed to argue so there isn't really any other way to communicate with umpires. a this level they make the wrong call. a lot. its just frustration

Right on bevycakes! I would give you 2 "green thumbs ups" if I could. As you said, if the umpires are doing a poor job, make a call to the umpires association and register a complaint. Since this is 2008, you could probably also send an email.

You wanna toss a purpose pitch at the batter, fine. You could get ejected for it and charged at, but it's an understood part of the game. You wanna toss a purpose pitch at the ump while being videotaped, you should be prepared to go to jail for assault (if the police can find good cause to arrest you).
