I have to say, you made me laugh a little in part 1, but then i stopped because your review seems rather superficial and very in tune of the typical pissed-off audience reaction. Basically, all i'm hearing is "this part isnt EXACTLY like the fucking game! to hell with it!" Ok yes, the movie is based on a video game.

And the fact that they made the movie so profoundly different from the game while retaining certain aspects (would) make this a better movie than if they had stuck strictly to everything in the oh so popular game. Come on, the game really HAS no dominant plot except mario rescues the princess. here, they gave it a plot (god forbid!), a rather interesting one that unfortunately did not click with viewers.

The movie also isn't commended enough for making the characters seem more *human* by giving them a-you know, personality. What did you expect? some actors jump like they're on crack in front of a green screen which is substituted by the 8-bit game background? Maybe you should try viewing this like an actual movie-not a video game with live actors.

there should never be live action movies based on video games. cartoons, maybe, but not movies. the mario cartoon was actually pretty neat. i loved to watch it as a kid
