Sorry to say but this band brought janis to the spolight. Not saying that she didnt deserve it but they just got over shadowed one because she is great and two because shes a female in rock and roll!!!

Amen, (shitty band). but I actually think BB was possibly better than the full tilt boogie band -- nobody but a few (The Byrds, Grateful Dead, etc) had an inkling how to play then, plus I think having her as a soloist was a smart move. May I point out there were a LOT of females in Rock, Janis just was the only one with the guts to sing the blues & be true to herself.

Live in those days wasn't what is today. They were in a lousy studio with shitty equipment, especially, the amps which were toned down and filtered through a single boom mike for television. Janis just had such a dominant voice. But if you check out the Cheap Thrills album and the recordings of "Piece Of My Heart" & "Summertime" then you'll realize that Big Brother put the electricity in electric blues.

BBHC was an unknown band nationally, although they had a small following in the San Fransisco area. When she joined the band and then they played the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, she and they became noticed. It was Janis that brought fame to BBHC, not the other way around. Albert Grossman wanted her, not them. He was the most famous manager at the time. If it hadn't been for her, they wouldn't be known today. However, I am in no way suggesting they are not talented. They very much are. Peace.
